2025 Guide: Best Tool for QWET Tincture – Clean and Golden
Cannabis-infused precision: Master the cleanest tincture at home with QWET + one-button decarboxylation

What is QWET and Why Is It So Special?
QWET stands for Quick Wash Ethanol. It’s an extraction technique where frozen cannabis is washed quickly with ice-cold ethanol to pull out only the good stuff — cannabinoids like THC and CBD — without grabbing all the chlorophyll, fats, and plant waxes that cloud flavour and color.
“CBD is hands-down the most health-conscious solution for older men and women.”— Dr. Sanjay Gupta
I totally agree. If you’re making tinctures for wellness, QWET is the cleanest, clearest route. No overwhelming taste, no deep green sludge — just golden clarity.
My DIY QWET Process (with Zero Fuss)
Here’s how I prep QWET at home with tools anyone can grab:
🔹 1. Freeze First
I place both the dried cannabis flower and high-proof ethanol (like Everclear) in the freezer overnight. This locks out unwanted compounds.
🔹 2. Decarb for Tincture
Before extraction, I use my ECRU one-button decarboxylator to heat the cannabis.
THC? 30 minutes
CBD? 1 hour
Why decarb first? Because you want THC and CBD to be bioavailable when taken sublingually.
🔹 3. Quick Wash
The next day, I pour the cold ethanol over the decarbed flower, shake lightly for 3–5 minutes, and strain. Done.
What you get is clear, golden tincture — perfect for adding to coffee, tea, or just a few drops under the tongue.
But Wait — Decarb Before or After QWET?
This is the most common question I get.
If you're making QWET tincture, decarb before washing. This activates your THC and CBD so your tincture works immediately.
If you're making QWET-based FECO (Full Extract Cannabis Oil), decarb after. That way, the thick concentrate won’t lose potency during the ethanol boil-off.
Why I Use the ECRU Decarboxylator
I’ve used toaster ovens, manual thermometers, even baking trays. Nothing compares to the simplicity and accuracy of a dedicated decarboxylation device.
Here’s why I trust the ECRU Decarboxylator:
FDA-Approved Non-Stick Canister – Clean decarb, no residue.
Smell Control Silicone Lid – Keeps odour minimal (thank goodness).
Even Heating – No burnt edges or uneven activation.
One Button – Set it and forget it.
Infusion-Ready – After decarb, just add oil/butter and let it infuse.
💡 Note: Don't use ethanol in the decarboxylator. Alcohol has a low boiling point and poses a safety risk. Stick to butter, coconut oil, olive oil, honey, or glycerin for infusions.
A Quick Note on FECO: Full Extract Cannabis Oil
If you’re aiming to make FECO, QWET is still your best starting point. Here’s how I do it:
After QWET extraction, evaporate the ethanol slowly in a safe, ventilated space. Use a Pyrex dish or silicone mat.
Once it becomes a thick oil, bake it in the oven at 240°F (115°C) for 20–25 minutes to decarb.
The final oil is earthy, dark, and very potent. A little goes a long way.
Infuse or Tincture? What’s Best for You?
Method | Potency | Taste | Use Case |
QWET Tincture | Mild–Strong | Neutral | Drinks, sublingual drops |
Cannabutter/Oil | Strong | Herbaceous | Baking, cooking |
FECO | Very Strong | Earthy | Capsules, heavy-use edibles |
Whichever route you go, starting with the right decarb process is non-negotiable. It makes or breaks the effectiveness of your final product.
My Tips from the Workshop
Microscope Nerd Moment: After a QWET wash, all trichomes are gone. It’s amazing to see under magnification.
Ethanol Tips: Everclear works best. Stay away from flavored or low-proof liquors — they dilute the purity.
Dosing Tip: Start small, especially if your QWET tincture was made from decarbed flower. It’s stronger than it looks.
Final Thoughts: The Golden Touch Starts with Good Decarb
I love experimenting in the kitchen, but I also value precision — especially when it comes to cannabis. With QWET, I get a cleaner, tastier, and more reliable tincture every time. And with the ECRU one-button decarboxylator, I get to focus on enjoying the process instead of stressing over oven temps.
So if you’ve ever wondered how to make tinctures that are golden, not green, or how to decarboxylate without ruining your herb, this is it.

Christina & Stefan
In the world of herbs and flavors, we’re a chef and an engineer couple who combined our skills to explore the technical side of cannabis cooking. What started as a love for home-style edibles became a mission to simplify the process behind them. From decarboxylation to infusion, we’ve studied, tested, and even built the tools we use — including our own écru decarboxylator. We aim to make difficult concepts simple, not only in the machines we’ve created but also in how we explain these processes. Our goal is to bring these simple concepts into your home, making it easy to create, and ultimately, bring joy to your kitchen.
